Agricultures
Plastic films are widely used in all areas of agriculture: Greenhouses promote faster and more reliable growth because temperature conditions can be controlled, plants are protected from harmful external conditions, and pesticide use can be reduced; Mulch (covering the ground with plastic film) helps maintain humidity and reduces weed growth; Plastic film can also be used for silage. In addition, plastic reservoirs and plastic irrigation pipe systems help improve water management and can prevent water and nutrient waste. In short, plastics in agricultural applications increase yields, improve quality, and improve environmental acceptability.
A wide variety of plastics are used in agriculture, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and less commonly polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA).
